Nycz, Jan

John (Jan) Nycz was born on 21 March 1893 in Poland. While in Poland he married Anna Juzefczyk. Known children born to the couple were Mary, Helen, Josephina, Jennie, John and Nietek. According to his obituary, John served during WW1. He immigrated to Canada in 1929, settling in Kenora where he found work with the logging division of the Ontario Minnesota Pulp and Paper Company, later becoming a welder in 1943. His wife Anna immigrated to Canada in 1957.

Predeceased by his wife Anna in 1960, John died on16 June 1965 at his home at 1220 Trans Canada Highway in Kenora. At the time of his death he was survived by daughters Mary Zwirzynek of Kenora, Helen Rojek and Josephina Rochacka of Poland and sons John of Poland and Nietek of Sweden. Also surviving were fourteen grandchildren, and a sister in Poland. Anna and John are interred in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora.
