Michael Polischuk was born on 8 November 1887 in Poland. In his early years he was a sailor in the Russian Navy and served during WW1 with the navy, surname as Poloszczuk and rank of Seaman. After the war, he married Prokseda (Pearl) Poleway in 1919. Michael immigrated to Canada, settling in the Kenora area in 1929 where he farmed on the Redditt Road.
Michael died on 29 October 1956 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Kenora. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Pearl, daughters Edna Krolyk, Mary (William) Krolyk of Kenora and Olga at home as well as sons William, Michael, John, Andy, and Tony, all in Kenora. Also surviving were a brother and two sisters in Poland, fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pearl later died on 18 January 1980.
Michael is interred in the Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery in Kenora.
