Hudec, Andrew

The son of Miclas and Julia (née Durta) Hudec, Andrew Hudec was born on 9 June 1900 in Hornykamenec, Nitoa in Czechoslovakia and served during WW1, details unknown. He immigrated to Canada in 1927, settling in Kenora, Ontario where he found work with the Ontario Minnesota Pulp and Paper Company. On 2 September 1933, in Kenora, Andrew married Annie Sophia Symanyk. Born on 13 April 1918 in the Kenora area, Annie was the daughter of Peter and Maria (née Kalyn) Symanyk. Andrew and Annie gave birth to four known children, sons Andrew and Roy and daughters Lillian and Irene.

Andrew died on 24 April 1968 in the Kenora General Hospital. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Annie, son Roy of Kenora, and daughters Lillian (Carl) Pauly of Kenora and Irene (Dale) Holmes of Red Deer, Alberta. He was also survived by eight grandchildren. Andrew was predeceased by son Andrew in 1935. At some point marrying Bill Masarik, Annie later died on 25 November 1996 in Calgary. Andrew is interred in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora.
