Lozinski, Joseph

Joseph Lozinski was born on 4 October 1899 in Bosyry, Ukraine. He was the son of Joannis (Jan) Lozinski and Anna Gurin (Hurin). According to a later article about his retirement, he served in the Polish Army from 1917 to 1925. On 24 October 1920, in the Ukraine, he married Tetana. In 1927 Joseph immigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax from Antwerp aboard the Arabic on 11 June. The passenger list indicated that he was on his way to his brother-in-law Fred Brinkman in Kenora.

Joseph found work with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a sectionman out of Kenora, starting date of 8 September 1927 and retiring on 1 November 1964. At some point Tetana immigrated to Canada, the couple living on 17th Avenue North in Kenora. they had two known children, Carl and Stanley.

Predeceased by his wife Tetana in 1987, Joseph died on 25 March 1988. At the time of his death he was survived by sons Carl (Winnie) of Winnipeg and Stan (Caroline) of Kenora as well as six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joseph and Tetana are interred in the Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery in Kenora.
