According to his attestation papers, Michael Skeet was born on in September of 1896 at Bear Point on Lake of the Woods, Kenora. He was the son of George and Mawkos Skeet who were both living at the time of attestation. With occupation given as trapper and his father George at Bear Point as next of kin, Michael enlisted with the 141st Battalion on 11 July 1916 in Kenora. Two of his brothers had also enlisted with the 141st Battalion, Peter on the 28th of June and Maguire on 11th of July, both in 1916 in Kenora. Having been illegally absent for a period of 21 days, Michael and his two brothers were struck off strength as deserters on 9 September 1916 in Port Arthur. He reenlisted and was assigned to the H Company, 1st Depot Battalion Manitoba Regiment but due to heart valve issues, he was discharged from service as medically unfit on 26 December 1918 in Port Arthur. Nothing further is known about Michael.
